I had a dream of doing an entire album of drums and percussion with the greatest drummers out there! These players are truly fantastic and I am honored that they participated in this project. INFLUENCE BEYOND WORDS... This was possible through email. I asked everyone to perform a percussion piece that was truly their own and I emphasized that there should be no set time limit or direction whatsoever, and I did not want to know anything about what they were sending me. Upon receiving audio tracks I listened to them and Mike Biskup and I went to work on recording my parts. In order to stay true to my original vision, I did not want to spend a lot of time arranging my parts because I really wanted it to sound as "in the moment" and "on the initial vibe" as possible. The only tracks that were not done in this fashion, were the two with Chris Pennie and Ben Ross. The three of us played together in my Grandma's basement and Ben recorded it and Biskup did some tweeking to it. On Valentine's Day of 2008, Amir Ziv and I performed our piece with Luke Damrosch. Billy Martin (Meseski, Martin & Wood) curated a week of drums and percussion at THE ISSUE PROJECT ROOM in Brooklyn, NY and it was a tremendous honor to be a part of that week. This is my project. It is for your pleasure. Huge props to EVERYONE who participated in this. Thank you all. -Steve Honoshowsky
